Which entry point do you recommend for U.S. passport holders. What are their open hours.

For applying Shenzhen VOA.

The best and the most convenient is definitely Lo Wu / Luohu. You can take a suburban train, MTR East Rail Line until Lo Wu where you will perform Hong Kong exit formalities and then shortly walk to Luohu that is a mainland China counterpart of Lo Wu where you will apply for a Shenzhen VOA. Opening hours are: 6:30 - 24:00; application deadline: 23:30. The recommendation is to avoid border crossing rush hours: 08:00–10:00 (mornings) and 17:00–20:00 (evenings). In other words, you should arrive at the border crossing somewhere in between. Have a nice visit to Shenzhen.
