About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

How to determine departure point A

Jakarta to Guangzhou using Cathay Pacific, with flight layover in Hongkong (no immigration in Hongkong, just flight layover). Is the departure point A consider as Jakarta or Hongkong?

There is no doubt, it is Hong Kong. Both, 24 and 240 hour visa free transit recognize only the immediate points before and after mainland China. Here your immediate point is Hong Kong regardless whether you exit the transit area or not. So, only the immediate points before and after mainland China count. Have a nice visit to China.
