Flying into Shanghai from UK (via Abu Dhabi) staying 1 night then boarding Cruise Ship

My husband and I are traveling. Ship calling at Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and disembarking in Singapore. Can anybody confirm if we can take advantage of the 144 hour VISA exemption policy?
