Can i buy the high speed train ticket on the spot?

I'm planning to travel from shanghai to nanjing but still confusing about the time.
Can i buy the high speed train ticket in shanghai station on the same day of my departure (maybe about 1 hour before the train departure time)?
What the different between buy ticket online and on the spot? price or queue etc?

Yes, you can buy the high-speed train tickets on the spot around one hour in advance before the departure. However, in case there is no ticket, you are suggested to book them online in advance.
