About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA to Japan to Taiwan to Shanghai to USA

Hello,

I will be flying from Texas USA to Okinawa to Taipei to Shanghai (stay for 4 nights) to USA. I have a US passport and will be using my passport for the other destinations. I am wondering if I qualify for the 144 hrs free transit? I also have a HK permanent ID card and possibly a chinese visa I got in HK when I traveled from HK to China a few years ago but I am not sure if I should use that instead. I'd prefer using my US passport.

You qualify for the 144-hour transit. The HKID will not make a difference since it's not a valid travel document when outside HK.
