About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong to Guangdong

Can I fly from Hong Kong to Guangdong and back to Hong Kong and benefit from the 72 hour Free Transit?

I am in HK Oct 13 - 15 for the HK Electronics Fair. I would like to go to Guangdong Oct 16- 20 to visit Shenzhen. I don't have a Chinese entry permit. If I fly from HK to Guangdong will I be able to travel visa-free?

Thank you,

Brian

No, you cannot. Because Hong Kong-Guangdong-Hong Kong is not a transit at all. You need to apply for a visa for Guangdong and Shenzhen.

You can get a VOA for Shenzhen (5 days valid).
It's now available for US citizens too.
But it's as expensive as an 10 years L visa.

Thanks Thomas! Do you have any additional information on the 5 day VOA? I am having difficulty seeing it published by a Chinese consulate.

The Shenzhen VOA costs approximately $150 for US citizens and can be acquired at Luohu or Huanggang crossings. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
