About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Travelling through China to Japan

Hello,
I would like to visit china on 144 hour visa free - I plan to fly to Beijing, to do the wall, and then Japan for 3 weeks, back to Shanghai on route to Bangkok. Is this possible?
