About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

International Student at STJU potentially travelling domestically during Golden Week

Hello,

Im an international student in Shanghai and I currrently have the JW201 (X1 type with multiple entries), however I will be staying in Shanghai for over 1 year so I am required to apply for my residence permit within 30 days upon my arrival (I arrived Sept.3, 2017). And I already bought plane tickets to travel domestically (to Shenzhen) and will eventually have to buy train tickets (火车, 慢车/高铁) and I'm wondering would I still be allowed to fly domestically if I give the ''PSB''/people in charge of the residence permit my passport?

2. If I for some reason am not able to give the office my passport WITHIN the 30 days and I do it directly after Golden Week/国庆节 would that also be possible? & what would potentially be the consequences? Because I'm sure there are situations that happen like this when people are not able to apply within the 30 day for some reason... So maybe before 40 days, what would happen? Or would I be allowed to just travel with temporary travel documents/photocopies domestically?

Thanks in advance for ANY HELP!

After you submit your passport to apply for the residence permit, you will get a pick-up slip. The pick-up slip will allow you to stay and travel in mainland China legally. Just apply for foreigners' residence permits within 30 days from the date of your entry, and you will be fine. Don't worry about the Golden Week!
