About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

taipei-shanghai-taipei via hk

Hi, I want to fly from Taipei to Shanghai and stay in Shanghai with the 72h free transit.
Can i take a fly back to Taipei with stopover in Hong Kong? Not sure if that would qualify as a 3rd country.

Marian, yes, you can travel like that. Taipei-Shanghai-HK-Taipei is eligible for the 144 hour visa-free transit facility.
