About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong > Guilin / Yangzhou > Taipei

My husband and I are British citizens, looking to visit Guilin for 3 days from Hong Kong and then fly to Taipei via Fuzhou. Looking at the reply below, it looks like I can't enter Guilin by high speed rail from West Kowloon? Could I report for visa-free transit at Guilin airport? Many thanks.

Your itinerary is eligible for 240 hour visa free transit, although it is true that you cannot enter mainland China from Hong Kong by high speed train. You can enter mainland China by plane, for example by 3 weekly direct flight from Hong Kong to Guilin and then you can continue to Fuzhou and to Taipei. An alternative to flight is to take a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou port in Shenzhen. This is also eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. After you have arrived in Shekou port you can take a high speed train to Guilin. In any case, this will be your choice based on your available days, flexibility and similar, but a flight on this route could be very affordable. Have a nice visit to China.
