About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

can I go to a hotel from the airport on the 24hr direct transit thing?

I have an 8hr50m layover in CAN,

Alana, if you can use the 24 hr direct transit in there, you need to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport. Afterwards, you can leave the airport to go to the hotel.
