29 hours stay in Shanghai

Hi We are from New Zealand arriving in Shanghai at 1.25pm Friday 27 October 2017 by Singapore Airlines and will transfer by shuttle to our Cruise Ship ms Volendam on the same day. We stay one night in Shanghai on the ship and then the ship leaves the next day Saturday 28 October at 6pm for Japan on a 28 night cruise around Asia. We are not returning to China on the cruise but will go to Hong Kong for 2 nights. Please confirm that we do not need to apply for a visa to enter China.

According to my experience, you can use the 144-hour visa free transit while in Shanghai and do not need to apply for a Chinese visa. But I would suggest you double confirm this with the cruise company.
