About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layover in Guangzhou. Do I need to apply for the 72 hour permit?

Hi, I am a US citizen and flying New York - Guangzhou - Malaysia and then back from Malaysia - Guangzhou - New York with the layover in Guangzhou for 3 hours.

If you have your onward boarding pass, this will be a straightforward international-international transit in Guangzhou. No need to apply for anything.
