Can i take the cable car up, have a short walk to see some scenery and cable car back down?

Yes. If you only want to do a short easy walk, I would suggest you take the cable car up to the West Peak, have a short walk to see around and then take cable car down again from the West Peak. This route is the easiest one that requires a little walk.

There are also other options such as take cable car up to the North Peak and get down from West Peak or the reverse direction, but it is a bit challenging as you will need to walk for a couple of hours between these two peaks. You may choose the route according to you own conditions.
