About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

I am taking a Royal Caribbean cruise departing from Shagnhai September 1

and will be spending 2 nights in Shanghai before the cruise so I need a visa. However, I would like to find an escorted trip to Beijing (a week or so) in the near future. But I am not able to specify the date, tour group, or hotels for such a future trip now. Will I jeopardize my entry permit for the September 1 cruise by seeking a multiple entry visa without having specifics regarding the future trip that is requested to on the application?
