Residence permit enquiry

Hi i was just wondering how long the PBS keeps ahold of passports for during the processing of a residence permit? I have heard they keep it for two weeks but I'm curious why they have to keep a hold of it for such a long time.

Hi, usually, the processing time is 15 days at least.
