am travelling from iah to mnl with a 15 hour layover in pek. with my usa passport

can I secure a transit visa at the PEK Airport and be able to have a day tour of near by Bejing attractions  and be back to catch my connection flight to Manila.

Wennie, you qualify for the 24 hour direct transit in Beijing, no need to apply for a visa then. But you may be required to apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you want to leave the airport to explore the city.
