Los Angeles to Sanya to Beijing to Los Angeles in December

Hi,
We are traveling to Sanya for the Youth Sailing World Championship. Hoping to stop off in Beijing for 3 days before our flight back to LA. Do I need entry visa?

Thank you.

According to your route, you are not eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing as Sanya-Beijing-LA is not a transit. You will need to apply for the China visa before entry.

Looking on the Sanya travel website, it indicated that traveling to Sanya for less than 15days does not require a visa. Do I still need to apply for an entry visa for stopping in Beijing?

Yes. China visa is required as long as you enter to Beijing.
