Can I use a 144 hour free visa to visit Shanghai for 6 days

I will be leaving via a cruise traveling to Japan, but then the cruise returns to Shanghai where I will disembark for the airport and fly to Spain so could I just use a 24 hour transit for the last day and how would I arrange that.

Chris, if you travel like UK-Shanghai (6 days)-Japan-Shanghai (24 hours)-Spain, you are able to use the 144 hour free transit and 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai respectively. No need to apply for a visa then.

Hi Kevin thank you for you answered that cleared that up. Just another quick question do I apply for the 24 hour direct transit at the cruise port? Or do I have to contact the cruise line?

Chris, you need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the cruise port in Shanghai and then you can go to the airport to take the flight.
