I will be travelling to China from with Z type on September end. Is it possible for my wife to travel along with me with S2 type? For getting S2 type for my wife, can I provide my Z type,passport, invitation letter before my travel?

Yes, it is possible. In order to apply for an S2 type for your wife, you can provide your work Z type, passport and an invitation letter, as well as your marriage certificate. If she plans to stay for a long with in China, then she can apply for an S1 type.
