About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying Sydney --> Hong Kong --> Shanghai --> Hong Kong --> Sydney

Is the following flights ok for the 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit?

Sam, I'm afraid you cannot use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai because HK-Shanghai-HK is not a transit at all.
