About:China Visa Exemption

US citizen staying in Shanghai for 3 days then will cruise to Japan for 6 nights.

Hello, as US citizen, would I need a need a visa if I stay for 3 days in Shanghai before I cruise frto Japan for 6 days? If so, what type of visa would I need? Thanks.

Emma, if you travel like US-Shanghai (3 days)-Japan, you will be able to use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai. No need to apply for a visa then.
