About:How to Apply for a China Visa

72 hour Visa Free Transit - Arriving from USA on United and leaving for Sydney on Qantas after 2 day

The on-line info says you inform airline when boarding and fill in Arrival/Departure card and "apply the 72-hour permit"....where or how does one obtain this permit?

Hi, you need to inform the airlines that you want to use the free transit in mainland China when you board the plane in USA. After arriving at the Chinese airport, you can go to the transit counter to apply for the free transit.
