About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

48 hours in shanghai on a cruise , visa needed for USA citizen?

Cruise starts and ends in Tokyo. One port of call is Shanghai for 48 hours. That's the only Chinese port, do I need a Chinese visa as an American citizen for this two-day visit assuming?

Warren, if you will go to a third country or region different from the last one you come from after transiting in Shanghai, no visa will be needed for that. Otherwise, you need one.
