About:China Transit Visa

My niece is an Indonesian Citizen/passport holder traveling to USA on a US immigration visa.

Her first leg of the trip (Jakarta to Shenzhen China) requires a 6 hour lay-over in Shenzhen, before flying on to Seattle. Does she need to have a Chinese transit G type? And if so, how does she go about getting a 24 hour or less transit?

Paul, your niece needs a transit G type for that. First, prepare the relevant documents including the passport and copy of its data page, the application form, a recently-taken color photo, and onward tickets. Next, submit the application to the China embassy.
Besides, it's possible for her to get Shenzhen VOA.
