About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Seoul to Beijing round trip

I will be flying from Los Angeles to Seoul and would like to take a separate trip from Seoul to Beijing to visit the Great Wall. The plan is to fly out one morning and back to Seoul the next evening. Would I be able to benefit from the 72 hour visa free transit?

no. I tried this with my parent, and they got stuck in Tokyo (but they are US citizens). you have to only 'transit' the country of China. You can go Los Angeles, Seoul, Beijing, Los Angeles. Do not try to go round trip to Seoul, they won't let you on a 72 hour visa.
