About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I get 144 hours of free transit if I have a flight from Melbourne - Jakarta - Melbourne?

Hi, If I have a ticket from Melbourne to Shanghai but have a stop over for 6 hours in Jakarta, can I get that 144 hours of free transit in Shanghai even if I have already got my return ticket from Shanghai to Melbourne?
