About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

I am emailing to enquire regarding a trip I have planned

and to clarify the rule of the china transit visa and if it will be applicable to my certain circumstance. I was hoping if you could help me clarify the rule which apply to me.

I have received a single entry study visa into china and I hold a British passport. However, after my two week course I intended to travel to Japan and then catch my flight back to Birmingham international airport from Shanghai Pu Dong (which I have already booked my ticket for). Therefore, I was wondering if I am able to make my trip to Japan and then receive a 24-hour transit visa in Shanghai where I am then able to catch my returning flight home. I had my hope set out on Japan and my travel itinerary ready that is why I have hoping I will be able to do this. I was misinformed by my university regarding the number of entries I would be given

Nevertheless, if this is not possible I am still optimistic in traveling around china mainland to the catch my flight home.

Thank you!

Kind regards,
Nikita Patel

If you want to leave the airport, just apply for a temporary stay permit when you reach immigration. If not, there's nothing you need to do.
