72 hour free visa if arriving via a ship

Hi, can anyone clarify if I need to fill out any forms, I land in Shanghai PORT via cruise ship on 17/10/17 and leave via Shanghai airport 2 days later, I do not leave the Province.
If I arrived Via plane I have been told I could just tell the Airline and they do the rest, but as i'm arriving Via Cruise Ship i'm wondering what to do.......Help :-)

Carol, if you travel like country A-Shanghai-country B, you may be able to use the 144 hour free transit even though you enter by cruise ship, but you’d better confirm that with the cruise ship company.
