Hi, Alan, you can qualify for 144 hour free transit in Shanghai, no need to apply for tourist L type for that.

Thanks Jose.
Is there any further info or confirmation I can get, allow us for this free transit visa at Shanghai.
My air line is Cathay Pacific, we depart from Sydney to Shanghai, the flight has to be stop at HK for his home base, then pick up another flight with Cathay to Shanghai.
However, I discussed with our own travel agent for this ticket route, they said we are not qualify but I disagree with them.
Therefore I would be much appreciated if you can further assist.

If you will travel like Sydney-HK-Shanghai-Sydney, or Sydney-Shanghai- HK –Sydney, you will be able to use the free transit in Shanghai, but if your travel route is Sydney-HK-Shanghai-HK-Sydney, you need to apply for a visa from the CVASC.
