About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi, I'm traveling from US to Shanghai, then change planes in Guangzhou and on to Malaysia

Is this allowed? I read on another site that you cannot touch down in any other Chinese city, even just to switch planes. Please advise, thanks. Nick

Hi, you cannot use the 144 hour direct transit, but if your total layover time in Shanghai and Guangzhou is less than 24 hours, you can use the 24 hour free transit in mainland China then.
