Arrive Shanghai ferry from japan

Going overland to Vietnam or Laos. Can I get the 144 hour visa free? I am an Irish passport holder.

No because you will leave the designated zone that way. Only flights to Vietnam/Laos that do not have stopovers in China are allowed.
