About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Change of flight plan to third country, leaving to home within 144 hours, what happens?

What happend in case the flight schedule to the third country is changing unexpextedly and it requires that I have to fly home within 144 hours because of a sick family member ?

There will be a risk, at worst, of being detained and questioned at length by Chinese immigration, having to buy a new compliant ticket, and being flagged in a PRC immigration database.
