About:China Business Visa

I've been offered a job at a Chinese company who want me to relocate to Beijing.

Hi, I currently hold an M visa - can I travel on that and then go through the application process for the residency or do I need to apply for a Z? I've been reading up on it all, but it's all very confusing...
Or, can I travel over on an M visa, then apply for a Z whilst there and then convert to residency?

SNM, you cannot get residence permit if you enter on a business M type.
You can probably convert the M type to a work Z type after going to China, but if possible, you’d better apply for the work Z type in your home country in the first place. It will be safer.
