China Adoption - Hong Kong Entry Requirements

We are adopting from China and plan to fly out of Hong Kong back to the US. I understand as US citizens our Passport is enough for entry but what about our adopted child? What is required for her?

Does she hold the Chinese passport? And does she have a U. S. visa? If yes and if she visits HK for not more than 7 days, a Hong Kong and Macau Travel Permit for Mainland Residents will not be needed. Otherwise, she needs one.
