About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Macau- Beijing-Hong Kong

US citizen. Plane stops in Taipei (3 hours) before it heads to Hong Kong. I would be going to Macau and taking a plane from Macau to Beijing, staying for 72 hours, then going back to Hong Kong. Would this be allowed?

Thank you

Macau-Beijing-Hong Kong on non-stop flights is fine for 72 hours visa-free transit in Beijing, and those will be the only flights that PRC immigration will care about.
