Is it possible to travel to Guilin with a 1.5 year old child?

Hi, we're Italian, but we've been living in Beijing. We're planning to go to Guilin in April but I don't know if it's the right destination for my son. Are all the sightseeing far from the centre? The trip on the Li river is too long for a child? Is it easy to find international and good food? He's not used to eat Chinese food yet. Do you think another destination could be easier? If so, which one do you suggest? Many Thanks, Sara

The main attractions in the city like Elephant Trunk Hill and Seven Star Park can be reached easily by bus or taxi as they are just located in downtown area. The cruise on Li River is one of the highlights of the trip, which lasts about four hours. In my opinion, it is not a boring journey both for adult and child due to the beautiful landscapes along the way. When the cruise arrives at Yangshuo, you can go to the West Street, there are many western-style restaurants for you to choose in the street.

If you also consider other cities, I would recommend Shanghai, Chengdu or Xiamen. They are all popular tourist destinations with convenient transport.
