South African passport, travel from New Zealand via Hong Kong to South Africa

Good morning
I am unsure whether I need a visa for entry to China for my 2 hours 45 minutes transit time on 26 March until I take the next Cathay Pacific Airways flight out. (Arrive 9pm, depart 11.45pm same day)
I'm returning to New Zealand via Hong Kong on 10 April, and waiting time is less than 12 hours (arrive 7:10am, depart 9.05pm, same day). Can I book into an airport hotel and of course, do I need a visa?
Thanks
Amelia

Amelia, may I know your detailed travel route? If you travel like New Zealand-HK (2 hour 45 minutes)-South Africa-HK (12 hours)-New Zealand, you won’t need visa for HK because South African passport holders can enjoy free entry to HK for a stay of not more than 30 days. You can book an airport hotel.
