About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

5 hour layover in Guangzhou.

Wondering if I can leave the airport for a short while? Do I need a visa?

Melissa, if you travel like country A-Guangzhou (5 hours)-country B, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Guangzhou. You can apply for a free temporary stay permit inside the airport, and then you can leave the airport for a short while. You don’t need a visa then.
