About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Is 1 China tourist visa ok for a trip from Sweden to China, then Hong Kong, then China, then Sweden?

I will visit Shanghai on a tourist L type but I plan to take a trip to Hong Kong for a few days, then fly back to Shanghai, then fly home to Sweden from there. Do I need an entry permit for Hong Kong? Do I need a new entry permit to re-enter mainland China from Hong Kong?

Terrie, you don't need the entry permit for Hong Kong. When you return from HK to Shanghai and then go back to Sweden, if your transit time in Shanghai is not more than 144 hours, you don't need the transit permit. Actually, if your first layover in Shanghai is not more than 144 hours either, you can also use the 144 hrs free transit. So you may need only one or you don't need the visa for mainland. It depends on your itinerary and layover time.

Thanks Teddy. I will be in China a total of 2 weeks and plan to go to Hong Kong for 3 nights within that time. So if I go to Hong Kong and have no more than 144 hours between when I leave Hong Kong and when I fly back to Sweden from Shanghai, I should be ok with only the China tourist visa? It sounds like I need to plan the trip to Hong Kong at the end of my 2 weeks then. Thanks for your help!
