72 hour visit; not third country return

my friend will visit for a long weekend but returning to originating country..what is required and how do I get a short term visiting visa?

If so, you should apply for a tourist L type beforehand for that. You need to provide passport and copy of its data page, the completed application form affixed with a passport-style photo, round trip air tickets and accommodation arrangement in China. Next, submit the application to China embassy to apply for the tourist L type.
