Do you need passport #s to book a ticket to the Forbidden City? THANKS!!

I have arranged for a guide during our visit to China and he is requesting our passport #s to obtain tickets for the royal palace, does anyone know if this is necessary prior to our arrival there?

Yes, the real-name policy has been adopted at the attraction site. So the passport or other identity certificate is needed when purchasing or booking the ticket.
