Because of limited time,can we do tours on terracotta warriors and shaaanxi museum on the same day?

We plan to visit Xian this October 2017, using overnight train from Shanghai, and be back on the same day to Beijing, to save on hotel stay. Can we do tours in Terracotta warriors and Shaanxi museum on the same day? Do we need to reserve a ticket for the said attractions prior to our tour on October or can we buy it on the site?
