can a south african citizen apply for a chinese visa in person?

I'm currently living in Taiwan and not able to obtain a Chinese entry permit from here. Is it possible for me to go to Hong Kong to apply for it? (I have never applied for one before. This is the first time for me to get a Chinese entry permit.)

Erica, I’m afraid it is not easy for you to get that from HK if you don’t have HK residence permit. Anyway, you can have a try. If it cannot be done, you can find an agency to help you with that.
