About:Visa Application for Children Born in US with Chinese Parents

American husband, Chinese wife in Taiwan

Hi,

I'm an American living and working in Taipei with my Chinese wife and American infant son (7 months). We'd like to go back to china to visit my wife's family. Agencies here say they are not able to process his visa to china because my wife doesn't have an Alien Residence Certificate. Can we apply for his visa through a US based Chinese embassy via mail?

I'm afraid you cannot apply for it through a US based Chinese embassy by mail. Maybe you can attach your son's name onto your passport and apply for the visa for him as your accompanying person.

Thanks, Victoria. That's an interesting idea. The only issue is that I've already got a visa. I will ask about that, though.

Thank you again.
