Hi we are flying into Shanghai from the UK in March and leaving on a cruise the next day.

The first stop on the cruise after leaving Shanghai will be Korea. We believe we qualify for a free transit. Do we need to apply for this before departing the uk or do we do this on arrival in Shanghai. Will the airline let us fly with no visa in the passports

Keith, you will qualify for the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. You don’t need to apply for that in UK. The airlines will let you board the plane.
