About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US to Beijing (2 days) to Japan (7 days - no visa needed) to Seoul (5 days - no visa needed)

Am I going to be okay applying for the 72 hour free transit in Beijing even though I will not need a visa for the remainder of my trip?
