About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We have a 12 hour layover at Beijing Airport, Do we need visa? or 72 hour free transit apply?

We have US passports traveling to Dubai (for a few days) then fly to Tel Aviv with a 12 hour layover in China. We would like to visit the Great Wall of China, it looks like we need a VISA to leave the airport. What do we need to do so that we may leave the airport to visit the Great Wall and return back for our connecting flight to Dubai within the 12 hours layover.

If you travel from the US to Beijing and then to Dubai, you can make use of the 72h free transit policy in Beijing so that you don't need the visa. You just need to notify the air attendant before you arrive in Beijing.

It's not clear what your exact routing is. If you are flying Dubai-Beijing-Dubai you will need a Chinese visa in advance.
