Travelling on British Passport. Disembarking ex cruise ship arriving Shanghai 07.00.

As long as you enter Shanghai from a country or region other than Hong Kong, you can make use of the 144hrs free transit in Shanghai.

Many TKS for info. Still bit confused. Is there any reason why I cannot apply for a 72 hour free transit. It appears to be a simpler procedure?

The 72h free transit in Shanghai has been replaced by the 144h one and the requirments are eased. With regard to 72h one, cruise passengers cannot enjoy it, but they can use 144hrs free transit.
