chinese embassy in foreign countey

Question

We live in the US and plan to travel to China next year. We will be out of the US for 10 months prior to arriving in China so we cannot apply for visa in the US within 3 months from our arrival to China. Can we visit a Chinese Embassy in another country to apply? Is there a way we can get a visa approved which could be good for more than 3 months from issuance? Thanks.

Grant, yes, you can apply for it in a third country. However, if possible, you can apply for a 10-year visa in your home country, and it costs the same as the 3-month one. It will be more profitable.
